Foreign trade, also known as "foreign trade" or "import and export trade", refers to the exchange of goods and services between one country (region) and another. This trade consists of two parts: import and export. For the country (region) that brings in goods or services, it is an import. For countries (regions) that export goods or services, it is an export. This began to emerge and develop in the slave society and the feudal society, and developed even more rapidly in the capitalist society. Its nature and function are determined by different social systems. 

On December 9, 2024, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held a meeting to analyze and study the economic work for 2025. Listen to the work report of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission, and study and deploy the work on Party conduct and integrity building and anti-corruption in 2025. General Secretary Xi Jinping of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China presided over the meeting. The meeting pointed out that next year, efforts should be made to expand high-level opening up to the outside world and stabilize foreign trade and foreign investment. 

In 2024, in terms of total volume, China's foreign trade successively crossed the two trillion-yuan thresholds of 42 trillion yuan and 43 trillion yuan, with the total value of imports and exports reaching 43.85 trillion yuan, increasing by 5% year-on-year. 

In terms of policy intensification, we will combine addressing current prominent issues with promoting high-quality trade development, promptly study and reserve new supportive policies, and introduce them in a timely manner as needed. 

On March 25, 2025, Li Weizheng, deputy director of the Market System Construction Department of the Ministry of Commerce, stated that in 2025, the Ministry of Commerce will continue to take the "China Tour of Quality Foreign Trade Products" campaign as a guide to expand the consumption of quality foreign trade products.
